WATER CONSERVATION
PILOT PROJECTS

A major, new initiative of the Water District is to develop pilot or demonstration projects related to water conservation in each of our member cities. Our objective is twofold: first, to save water at each location; and, second, to provide teaching examples of technology, materials and procedures that save water.

As we test the different approaches in each project, we are sharing the results among our member cities and the public. Each member city has received grants in excess of $50,000 to implement projects that demonstrate water conservation techniques such as water-efficient technology and equipment, water-wise and California Native plants, and in-school curriculum. Highly visible project locations include public facilities such as City Halls, parks, and schools, along with private sector locations such as businesses and high water-using customers.
