H₂OWL Program Set to Debut

The Water District has created a new water education and conservation program in partnership with its member cities and participating youth groups. The program features H₂OWL, a new mascot that will visit schools, parks, and community and business events to increase awareness and participation in water conservation activities.

Here’s how the program works: first, we supply each City with a mascot costume and water-related flyers, fact sheets and give-away items that stress water conservation. Second, we are partnering with youth groups in our member cities that will both wear the costume and form an entourage that travels with the mascot to provide helpful information at group gatherings and events.

We have trained our youthful mascot partners about water-related issues and conservation to prepare them for their “work.” In addition to gaining valuable education and service opportunities, the Water District is making financial donations to the youth groups to help them with their club and service activities.
