INTRODUCTION
The San Gabriel Valley Municipal Water District maintains an active presence in the state's governmental arena with respect to water policy and legislation. With the State considering and acting on new water policy that translates into dozens of important water bills statewide, it's important for the District to remain vigilant about new legislation, track such bills, and provide input to the Governor, the State Department of Water Resources, and our legislative representatives.
This new Water Policy and Water Legislation section of our web site is designed to be a resource for residents, businesses, local elected officials and the media. We want you to know about emerging policy and legislation before laws are changed or are implemented. Funding measures related to water issues will be summarized in this section as well. We will provide you with ongoing updates so that you can understand the background and requirements of new legislation that is under consideration, recently signed or recently in effect. We will provide a thumbnail description of such bills that includes the bill name, sponsor, and key attributes, as well as links to the full bills and additional information.
This section also will provide you with information about key water policy influencers in the State of California, such as key state departments, legislative water committees and their chairpersons, water agency leaders, and environmental groups focused on water issues.
