Here are some interesting facts about water:

  • The average American household can save up to 20,000 gallons of water each year just by fixing leaky faucets. Leaky faucets waste 3-5 gallons of water every minute

  • Leaving the faucet running while brushing your teeth uses about five gallons of water. Wetting and rinsing the toothbrush only uses half a gallon of water.

  • Washing dishes with the tap running uses an average of 30 gallons of water. Filling a basin or one side of the sink to wash dishes uses about five gallons of water. The average dishwasher uses 9-12 gallons of water per cycle.

  • Using a hose to wash a car uses up to 150 gallons of water. Using a sponge or a bucket uses 15 gallons. Most car washes use about 5-10 gallons of water per car.
