Happy Earth Day!
Introducing H2Owl, it's his Birthday!
The District is joining many other environmental agencies in promoting earth day and promoting good environmental practices for residents and businesses. Not only has the District placed a full page ad in local newspapers, but we're introducing our new mascot, H2Owl, in the process. Our mascot will be partnering with schools and youth groups in our member cities to spread the word about wise water management and water conservation. Please check out this "birth announcement" and stay tuned for future news about our Mascot Partnership program. (click on ad for larger view) A New Logo for the District!
Shown above, our new logo was inspired by the District's desire to increase its visibility and involvement with public education and information programs in its member cities of Alhambra, Monterey Park, Sierra Madre and Azusa. Welcome to the San Gabriel Valley M.W.D. Homepage! We provide quality replacement water at minimal cost to the citizens of Alhambra, Azusa, Monterey Park and Sierra Madre. The San Gabriel Valley M.W.D. is led by a 5-member Board of Directors elected by residents of the four cities. Alhambra has one division; Azusa has one division; Monterey Park has one division; Sierra Madre has one division; and Alhambra and Monterey Park share another division. All policy making decisions are approved by the Board. Meetings are open to the public and are held on the second and fourth Mondays of each month at 8:00 a.m. at District headquarters. Our mission is to maximize the quality and quantity of the supplemental water supply, protect the entire groundwater basin, encourage water conservation through education, minimize the cost of supplemental water, improve water quality, and search for additional sources of supplemental water. Most people are not greatly concerned with issues regarding water. As long as we can turn on the tap and clear water flows we pretty much take it for granted that things are okay. Surprisingly there is a lot going on that most people don't see to assure that safe, clean, reliable and economic water gets to your home or place of business. We hope that our website will give you a little insight as to how water gets to your home or business and why conservation is so important in Southern California. Explore and enjoy our website. We want you to know as much as possible about what we do and how it benefits you. We also want you to learn about the importance of your part in conserving water within the region.
